Hardware-Accelerated Device for Protection Against DoS Attacks

This thesis deals with the development of a firmware for hardware-accelerated device used as a protection against amplification (D)DoS attacks. In the today's world, (D)DoS attacks are very common and cause significant financial damages. Therefore the goal is to create affordable and easy to deploy centralized device that would resolve this issue. To reach this goal, a hardware accelerator is being used for the high-volume data transfer processing through a single commonly used server. Design and implementation of the firmware had been done considering the fact that this device will be used in the networks with 100\,Gbps speed. The whole system had undergone functional verification and its real throughput was verified within the laboratory testing as well. Created device has been already deployed into the CESNET network infrastructure during the time of the writing of this thesis and it has been tested by the network administrators. Based on the received feedback, the development will continue focusing on expanding of the detection of more types of attacks.
P4 Language-Based Description of Accelerated Device against DoS Attacks

This thesis describes the development of a networking device used to defend against (D)DoS attacks using P4 language. The main purpose was to design flexible device using P4 lan-guage based on already existing device, this would allow us to quickly react and respond to new more complex DDoS attacks. The design of the device dealt with the transfer of individual parts of the firmware into the P4 language. Subsequently, the entire device firmware was designed for hardware accelerators with FPGA technology. The firmware had been designed with respect to the limitations of current P4 language compilers. The device has been tested under laboratory conditions for functionality and performance. The device will be deployed in the network infrastructure of CESNET.
Model of the metropolitan optical network

The purpose of this master’s thesis is foremost to provide a simple guide how to build elements of optical metropolitan area network. The basic model consists to sequence of construction, network topology, passive and active parts. The collection contains examples of alternative technology such as Wireless LAN with different frequency. The optical network construction based on optical cable, fibres, splices, trays, adapters, connectors and active parts for example a lot of media convertor models. After that there are demonstrating type of wavelength division multiplexer used in metropolitan area network – passive planar PCL splitter. One of the passive planar splitter are used to increase optical fibre channel. At the end of the collection a simplified examples of used measurements – optical time domain reflectometry and optical fibre transmission. Contains standard protocols or reflectogram. The conclusion of this thesis summarizes costs of FTTb (Fibre To The Building) model of optical metropolitan area network in Czech republic and future contribution for society.
Genetic regulation of Leishmania infection

6 Abstract Leishmaniasis is a neglected tropical disease, which belongs to the top health problems because it is endemic in 98 countries in Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Mediterranean region, and is gradually expanding to new areas, including Central Europe and USA. Clinical manifestations of leishmaniasis include a diverse range of forms, ranging from non-lethal cutaneous leishmaniasis to potentially lethal visceral leishmaniasis. Asymptomatic cases are known to exist in endemic areas. Different species of Leishmania induce distinct symptoms, but even the patients infected by the same species develop different symptoms and may respond differently to the treatment. Thus, one of the challenges is to explain the observed variability of leishmaniasis that cannot be attributed to the currently known factors. To find novel regulatory factors of the disease we tested molecules that were shown to play role in other infections and mapped loci controlling parasite load after L. major infection. We also determined genetic control of survival after infection with tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) in order to establish whether there are common elements in response to L. major and TBEV.
